Nov. 3rd Don’t read anything into the title of this one … just a lame attempt at levity.
One morning last week, I jumped out of the shower & was drying off with a towel. It was a chilly morning so the furnace was on; air blowing up from the vent in the bathroom. As I was drying my head, I looked down at the vent & noticed a cloud of short hairs blowing around me. Dammit! I thought someone had used my towel to dry off the cat!
Of course it was my hair in the process of falling out. I was, ironically, relieved a little because it was a sure sign the chemo drugs were working (see previous entry).
I met with my primary doctor last Friday afternoon. My blood levels (white cells, red cells, and hemoglobin) are right where they should be. I described the mild reaction I have experienced to the drugs so far. He was very encouraging; saying that my general level of good health and attitude make a big difference. In response to my question about worsening side effects as I go through rounds 2 and 3 of chemo therapy, he said except for losing hair, I probably won’t feel any worse than I have already.
On the way out of the hospital, I got harpooned by a woman in a cat suit (it was Halloween, and I got a flu shot).
Yesterday, Daren helped me buzz cut the remaining hair I have on my head. Quite breezy now; kind of feels like going comando. I need to find some of that spray on tan so my scalp will be all one color tone.
Things go well leading up to my 2nd round of chemo on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday this week.
Make sure you get out & vote!
