Work Party!!

Saturday and Sunday, Oct 4th & 5th - What a fantastic weekend! Friends, co-workers, neighbors and family started arriving at about 8:30 and got right to work on the “To Do” list! There must have been 25 people throughout the weekend - - digging, raking, hauling, cutting, trimming, weeding, cleaning gutters, taking down xmas lights! Of course there was also plenty of eating, serious talks, and laughing.

Daren and I are SO grateful to all of you for your wonderful generosity, labor, cooking talents, support and concern. I hope that in some small way I can return the favor to each of you who were there in person or in spirit.

Memories:
• Serious, and not so serious, stories about bowels and bladders.
• Joey (the dog) starting the morning looking like a normal labradoodle (or is it poodalabra?) and ending it looking like a mud wrestling champ.
• A kitchen FULL of wonderful scents and dishes like soups, casseroles, breads, salads, cookies, desserts, coffee, teas …
• Guy up on the ladder cleaning gutters when the spray nozzle pops off the hose.
• Dave with his cool hat.
• Eric driving the mower & cart like Darrel junior up to piles of redwood needles raked by Richelle.
• Brian, Steve/Tony, and Kim with chain saws roaring & chips flying.
• The trenchers … Ron, Dale, Rebecca, and Georgia.
• The tiny little maple tree refusing to give ups its roots to Rebecca and Ron.
• The plum battle in the side yard.
• Heidi, Pat, and Lasha coaxing the weeds out of the flowers and bushes.
• Mike and Glen scaring the sword ferns and brandishing their shears like Edward Scissorhands.
• Jeri tirelessly trimming the grasses and flowers.
• The feast!
• Singing happy birthday to 91 year old Helen!
• Adam wondering what that ‘phsst’ and spray was while weed whacking the ground cover plants & figuring out it was dog poo.
• Paul picking apples and grapes.
• A ‘To Do’ list with every single item crossed off!

I'll check in with all of you after my first chemo treatment on Wednesday.
